City streets of Ljubljana

It was difficult to do full justice to Ljubljana in photographs. It’s a beautiful city but good unobstructed angles for pictures can be hard to find. It hasn’t helped that the weather in October of 2018 when we visited was hazy and wet.

For a view from a higher vantage point we went to the top of the 13-story Nebotičnik building. Nebotičnik, which amusingly translates in English to “skyscraper”, was completed in 1933. At the top there’s an open deck with a coffee bar; we saw no evidence of any sky in danger of being scraped. The deck does allow good views of the city. It’s worth visiting even if you aren’t planning to take pictures.

Later in our stay in Ljubljana we headed up the hill to the castle where there were also good views. Both Nebotičnik and the castle’s ramparts give good overviews of the city. The angles are different, so it is good to go to the top of both.
