National Parks: Grand Teton

Filed under: National Parks, The List, Travel, United States — anotherheader @ 12:18 am

I’d like to think that I’ve been to Yellowstone more than any other United States National Park but that’s wrong.  The truth is that I’ve been to Grand Teton National Park more than any other.  It is familiar territory.

For most people, a visit to Grand Teton is closely linked to a visit to Yellowstone National Park.  And so it was for our visit.  After a stop in Yellowstone we did a drive by through Grand Teton on our way to Southern Utah.  Grand Teton is much as I recall except for one thing.  There were a lot more people in the park.  Where did all they all come from?  In late September the parking lots were jammed and there was no place to park the rig.  So much for the down economy keeping people at home with “stay vacations.”

Grand Teton is still worth the effort.  If you visit be sure to hike in and explore the pristine lakes that sit at the base of the granite peaks.  Just come early and beat the crowds.

A short set of pictures is on Picasa.
